I am Dr.M.A.Bhageerathi, daughter of the famous violinist M.S.Anantharaman. My paternal grandfather is Parur sundaram Aiyyar, who introduced violin in Hindustani music and served as the first professor of violin at the Gandharv Maha vidyalaya Bombay, When Vishnu digambar Paluskar was heading the institution. My mother Ananthalakshmi hails from GobichettiPalayam in Erode district. Her father was G.N.Krishnasami Aiyyar, popularly known in the village as Kittasami Aiyyar. He served for long time as a councillor of the Gobi munnicipality. My mother's cousin,i.e., Periyappa's daughter, Sarasu married Sangu Subramania aiyyar, who popularised Mahakavi Bharathiyar's songs, by publishing them. My maternal uncle Mr.Kannappan has also served as a councillor in Gobi municipality. His first son Mr.Sriram is working in TVS. My father-in-law K.Nagarajan hail from Pallagacheri village. My mother-in-law hails from Paiyyur. My husband Dr.Kanagasabesan works as Professor of Economics and Controller of Examination, Vivekananda College. My first brother-in-law is Captain A.Nagarajan IAS,Additional Chief secretary, who held the office of Principal secretary, Planning and Development, Government of Tamil Nadu.He also served the Indian army during the 1971 war. Mr.Subramanian, Mr.Balan and Mr.Shankar are my other brothers-in-law. My brother-in-law Shankar works as Deputy General Manager, Neyveli Lignite corporation.My brothers M.A.Sundaresvaran and M.A.Krishnasvami are popular violin artists and are serving the AIR. I have two daughters. My first daughter Harini has an M.Phil in Music. She has married Srivatsa Chakravarti, great grandson of Rajaji by direct lineage. She also plays the violin and continues to learn from her uncle M.A.Sundareswaran.My second daughter Hemamalini is doing B.Tech in civil engineering at NIT, Trichy. I am presenting a paper titled "Tamizisaiyum Dandapanidesigarum" in the Cemmozi Manadu to be held in Coimbatore from 23rd to 27th June, 2010.
